For associations & societies

Association membership software focused on getting dues paid

An association's budget is its dues. When renewals slip, programming slips with them. DuesBox keeps the roster accurate, charges renewals automatically, and gives your board a number it can trust at every meeting.

Free forever for unlimited members. New signups get 14 days of Pro.

Who this fits

  • Professional societies and trade associations billing annual membership
  • Alumni groups, guilds, and regional chapters with recurring dues
  • Boards that need a defensible record of who paid what and when
  • Associations paying too much for a platform whose website builder they never use

A membership record your board can rely on

Every member has a plan, a status, and a renewal date. Because the renewal date advances automatically when a payment is recorded — whether that payment came from a card charge or from a check you entered — the roster stays accurate without a reconciliation ritual. Membership numbers and dues collected are on the dashboard, ready for the report.

  • Member statuses that reflect reality, not last quarter's spreadsheet
  • Full payment history per member with dates, amounts, and method
  • CSV export of members and payments on Pro — for the treasurer's report or an audit
  • Multiple admins on one shared, live view

Membership tiers, priced your way

Set up as many dues plans as your bylaws call for: full member, associate, student, retired, lifetime. Each has its own price and billing cycle, and moving a member between tiers takes one change — their next renewal follows the new tier.

  • Monthly, annual, and lifetime cycles
  • Unlimited tiers, each with its own name and rate
  • Reassign a member's tier at any point in the year

Renewals that collect themselves

Members pay on their own private dues page. When they save a card, each renewal is charged automatically on the due date and a receipt goes out — no invoice to chase, no follow-up email for you to write. Money settles into your association's own account through your connected payout account; DuesBox takes no percentage of your dues.

  • Automatic card renewal every cycle, with member-controlled cancellation
  • Automatic retries and a clear notice when a card is declined
  • Check and transfer payments recorded manually and treated identically

Reminders sized for adults, not spam

On Pro, three reminders cover the whole cycle: seven days before renewal, on the due date, and a week after if it's still unpaid. Members on working automatic payments only receive the advance notice. Every send is logged, so a member never gets the same reminder twice.

How it works

  1. 1Create your free account and add your association.
  2. 2Set up your membership tiers with their prices and billing cycles.
  3. 3Add members and assign tiers — individually, or by import on Pro.
  4. 4Connect your payout account so members can pay by card and renew automatically.
  5. 5Send everyone their dues link, and use the dashboard for your next board report.

What it costs

Free forever: unlimited members, dues plans, member dues pages, and manual payment records. Pro is $29/month and adds automatic card collection, automated renewal reminders, and bulk import. Agency is $79/month for multiple organizations and admins. New signups get 14 days of Pro to try it.

Questions people ask

Is this a full association management system?
No, and that's deliberate. DuesBox does membership records and dues collection. It does not build your website, run your events, or host a forum. If dues collection is the part that's failing, this is the tool. If you need an all-in-one platform, a larger system will suit you better.
Can we have more than one administrator?
Yes. Multiple people from your association can be invited to the same organization, so the treasurer and the membership chair both see the same live data instead of trading spreadsheet versions.
How do renewals work for annual memberships?
Each member has a renewal date. Members who saved a card are charged automatically on that date and their renewal date rolls forward a year. Members paying by check get reminders before and after the date, and you record the payment when it lands — which rolls their date forward the same way.
What happens when a card is declined?
The member is emailed immediately with the reason and a link to update their card, and DuesBox retries automatically on day three and day seven. If all three attempts fail, automatic payments switch off and the member is told to pay manually, so nobody is silently dropped.
Can we get our data out?
Yes — on Pro, members and payment history both export to CSV at any time, which is what your accountant or auditor will ask for anyway.
